Blog Tour: Catalyst by Tracy Richardson

Hi Readers!!! Today I have for you a Blog tour run by the amazing The Write Reads. Catalyst by Tracy Richardson is the second in a series called The Catalysts but you don’t need to have read the first book to enjoy this the second book as it is very easy to pick up what is going and and you can easily read it as a stand alone YA novel.

From Goodreads:

Marcie is spending her summer working on the archaeological dig that her mother runs: Angel Mounds, a site of an ancient indigenous civilization. Soon after she arrives, she meet some intriguing individuals, and becomes wrapped up in a supernaturally-charged mission to save the planet from the destruction man has brought upon itself.

Marcie Horton has a sixth sense. Not in the “I see dead people” way, but . . . well, maybe a little. She feels a sort of knowing about certain things that can’t be explained-an intuition that goes beyond the normal. Then there was that one summer four years ago, when she connected with a long-departed spirit . . . But nothing that incredible has happened to Marcie since.
This summer, Marcie is spending time working at Angel Mounds, the archaeological dig her mother heads, along with her brother, Eric, and his girlfriend, Renee. The dig is the site of an ancient indigenous civilization, and things immediately shift into the paranormal when Marcie and her teammates meet Lorraine and Zeke. The two mysterious dig assistants reveal their abilities to access the Universal Energy Field with their minds-something Marcie knows only vaguely that her brother has also had experience with. Marcie learns how our planet will disintegrate if action is not taken, and she and her team must decide if they are brave enough to help Lorraine and Zeke in their plan to save Mother Earth, her resources, and her history. It looks like the summer just got a lot more interesting.

I really enjoyed this book, to be honest if resonated with me as I often have thought that there is more out there and it would be nice to have a sixth sense to help navigate the world.

The writing in this novel is great I got drawn right in and really invested in what Marcie, Eric, Renee and Leo are getting into and how they begin to learn and accept what is happening to them. The writing is also very informative as you learn about environmental issues such as fracking and how it affects the planet. You also empathise with Marcie as she struggles with normal teenage stuff such as love and the future.

It reminds me of another series that I love which I will link to here . It is interesting to see how the teens deal with their changing circumstances and without spoilers I can’t really give much more away. But what I can say is that these kids learn and experience things that they haven’t really seen or done before. Some people are more accepting of what is occurring and how it will eventually change their lives.

I’m having trouble talking about how much i enjoyed this book as I don’t want to give anything away but the overall theme of how the Earth fights back and how we are the engineers of our own change and fate really resonates. There are often other things out there that we don’t know about and this novel shows you what could be around us.

It was a really enjoyable read and I would love to know what you all thought of it.
