Today is my stop on the Write Reads – Ultimate Blog Tour for book one in the Sapphire Smyth series – Shadows. This a serialised series and it really leaves you hanging at the end!
Have you ever seen something you can’t explain? Did it vanish as fast as it appeared?
Perhaps that thing you saw was lurking in the shadows, and you caught a glimpse of it before it went back into hiding.
There’s a good chance, of course, that the thing you saw simply emerged from your imagination.
Or maybe, just maybe, it didn’t…
Sapphire Smyth is no stranger to rejection. When she was only a baby, her father abandoned her after her mother died. Since then, Sapphire has never felt like she belonged anywhere, or with anyone. To make things worse, her foster carers have now turned their back on her – on her eighteenth birthday. After living with them throughout her childhood, Sapphire has to find a new home. Is it any wonder she finds it hard to trust people?
Abandoned by the people she called family, Sapphire is alone and searching for some meaning in her life. Except that meaning has already come looking for her. When she discovers mysterious creatures lurking in the shadows, Sapphire soon realises that her fate is unlike anything she had ever imagined.
I really enjoyed Part one of this serial – Shadows. Sapphire has no idea about how much her life is going to change and on her 18th birthday.
There’s things in the shadows that you wouldn’t expect and suddenly Sapphire is thrust into a world where nothing is what is seems and where she might have abilities that are unexpected.
I really enjoyed this episode and it left me wanting more and wanting to know if Sapphire comes into herself and stops fearing for what is ahead.
It takes great writing to draw me into a book and such a short snippet of one as well. It’s 104 pages in the first episode and there a 6 in total which I am looking forward to reading.
I will definitely be looking out for other books by this author and I would love to know what you guys think!
Also go and check out everyone else who’s in the tour too!
**Many thanks to The Write Reads and the author for the copy of the book. All opinions are my own.**
